General Protection from Trojan Horses

This page is about computer security. For specific information about the Trojan horse computer virus please visit www.trojanhorsefacts.com

Because there are different types of Trojan horses that infect the PC’s system in different ways, no general anti-Trojan software has been developed. There are plenty of Trojan remover softwares but none of them can remove all types of Trojan horse that will enter your PC. They say that prevention is always better than cure. So instead of using these removers, it is better to protect your PC as much as you can. Here are some effective security softwares and tips that you can use to prevent acquiring a Trojan horse.

1. Install the best Antivirus software. I recommend using BitDefender, Kaspersky or Eset Nod Antivirus. These Antivirus softwares have been developed and are strong enough to detect and prevent Trojans from entering your PC. Never ever use weak security software. It will not be a big help for you because they can be easily affected and shut off by Trojan horses. You can read reviews to guide you on choosing a strong antivirus program.

2. Always turn on your firewall. This may not be as tough as the antivirus but it can really help you from protecting your PC.

3. Use the best web browser. Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Firefox are the most secured web browser. They have their own security database that alerts you if you are trying to open a malicious website.

4. Use anti-spyware software. Having an antivirus is good but it would be better if you install different anti-spyware software. As I have mentioned, Trojan horses are different from each other, so you need different softwares to protect your PC. Advanced System Optimizer has anti-spyware that you can use.

5. Avoid using peer to peer downloading programs. I know, these programs are very useful to you. If you can’t avoid using it, at least choose files that are clean. Just like Lime Wire, it tells you if the file you are downloading is infected or not, if that happens, don’t download that file. There are other files that you can choose from. If you want to download movies and softwares, I recommend downloading them at download.com because it is safer there. To make sure that the file that you downloaded is not infected with any Trojan horse; you can use your antivirus and scan the program’s set-up before installing or opening the file.

6. Avoid visiting pornographic sites. Yes, pornographic sites are the favorite resting place of Trojan horses. They just stay there because they know that anytime soon, someone will access the website and sign up for an account using their personal information. I advise that you just buy pornographic magazines or rent adult DVDs that you can watch. Those things don’t have Trojan horse.

7. Think million times before you sign up to any service that requires your credit information. Do you really need to sign up? Is that service legal? Sign up for services that your friends recommend to you.

8. Don’t open, read and even believe spam emails. You must always opt to turn on the spam blocker of your email. But if there’s a malicious email that went to your inbox, just delete it immediately.

These are very useful tips that can help you prevent getting Trojan horse. A single Trojan horse can cause big problems, so stay alert and follow all the tips that I gave you.
